Big T Origami Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

Big T Origami Quilt by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

The smallest origami crane ever made was just .1 mm square (that’s 1/25 of an inch!) The all-time largest measured a whopping 256 feet. And this week we’re working on the world’s coziest origami!

The Big T Origami quilt is based on an antique favorite. It’s sometimes called Folded Corners, and it comes together quickly with flying geese and half square triangles.

Some Makes from Mama Spark's World

I gifted a couple of quilts to my daughter's in-laws this year.  We don't usually exchange gifts, but I found some patterns and knew I had to make them for them.  Rick has an antique green truck so when I saw this pattern I knew he needed this one. ,Her MIL, Julie, is a HUGE Outlander fan.  I found this quilt made in the tartan plaid of Jamie Frasier (one of the main characters) so I also knew

Brown Goose Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

The Brown Goose Quilt from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Before Jenny Doan, there was Nancy Cabot.

During the 1930s, Nancy wrote a column for the Chicago Daily Tribune featuring a new quilt pattern every single day. A diagram of the daily block was printed next to helpful tips and bits of quilt history. (The pattern could be purchased for “5 cents in stamps or coin.”)

Nancy’s column was chatty and casual, like a tea time conversation between friends. I think I would have loved her!

On January 27, 1933, Nancy highlighted a simple half-square triangle pattern called The Old Gray Goose. Of course, like all old-fashioned blocks, it ...

Migration from A Quilting Jewel

I started this quilt at the BMQG retreat earlier this year and just finished it. It's the third quilt in my flying geese series and I think it's a really fun mini quilt. My flying geese series is all about taking the flying goose block and modifying it slightly and then arranging the blocks in a unique design. I had been trying to use the word "way" in each title, but "Migration" just seemed fitting for this, so I went with it.
This is a fairly small quilt, but boy is it mighty. Between the stark contrast between ...
